A New Years’ Desk

Ahhh, isn’t this just a perfect little picture of a nicely working desk area? I wish I could show you this and say that this is what my desk looks like every day. As a matter of fact, I wish I could say that was what my desk looked like right now! Buuut, it’s not. Not today at least.

(this is what it actually looks like right now…)

My desk today has been moved from my normal work space to this makeshift little work area, due to wanting to move my office to someplace with less distractions. So I’ve been sitting here intensely working and racing thoughts and questions through my head of what I’m looking for in photography for 2016, what new elements of the business need to be updated, what photo I’m going to use for my new business card, how much can I set aside for advertising.  Amongst all the typing, researching, and hasty scribbles I couldn’t help but sit back for a moment and take in my current work space for a moment.  Some days, photography just looks like this.  So much of my work time is usually spent between just me and my computer.  So I chuckle when I look down and see that my desk is askew with post-it notes, to-do lists, and sketches for website updates. It’s a good kind of busy that makes me smile.

New years to me always come with a promise of new organizing tricks, new stationary, new clients, new goals. I love wrapping up all of the details of the previous year the day before the new year and seeing an overview of what happened in that year. And then, the next day, somewhere between coffee and pajama pants, I like to eventually get around to my desk and think about what I’d like to accomplish in this new year. A lot of thoughts race through my mind when it comes to the new year and this photography business. Usually, somewhere within the first 10 minutes of sitting down, I ask “God, what would You like to do with the business this year? What plans do you have for it? Plans to grow it? Plans to turn it into something else?” I know He has plans for each and every one of us, plans to prosper us, to give us hope, and a future – jeremiah 29:11.  I’m really looking forward to what He will do with BVPhotography this year. Already He is opening up some really unique opportunities, so I’m really looking forward to seeing where the LORD will lead me and BVPhotography in this year.

So while I continue to gather my thoughts and sketch out some plans for the business, I don’t want to forget that God has some plans for this business as well.  And for you too!  I look forward to being able to announce a few new projects I’ll be doing this year, but until then, I hope that you have a very blessed day, great week, and a wonderful year of 2016!
