Okay, so now that I’ve taken a month break from posting anything, I’ve come to a conclusion. See, I’ve always struggled with keeping posts regular, and now that I gotten a Facebook, my conditions have (jokingly) seemed to have worsened. Honestly, I’ve always known that one of my struggles with having a business is keeping up my social media sites up to date. Let me explain. I’m a photographer. My camera is my tool and trade of choice. I love my camera. I really do. And you would think that we were attached, like at the wrist or something…which in all honestly, we are most of the time. I can’t travel without my camera at all, because if I do, I seriously have a mini panic attack because I think “What if there’s something absolutely amazing and beautiful and I don’t have my camera to capture it!!?!” So I take it with me on my trips and then I hardly take it out because, get this, I don’t want to damage it. What??!! For example, I bring it with me on vacation, but then I refuse to get it out at the restaurant because I don’t want to get food on it, I don’t get it out at the pool because I don’t want to get it wet, I don’t take it with us to go berry picking because I just see mushed berries all over it and I don’t take it to the beach with us because of sand! I won’t even take it out of its case and let it sit somewhere in the house because I’m afraid I might knock it off the counter or something. It’s like I’m a super-protective parent over it. Seriously, I love my camera so much that I protect it to a point that I don’t even take it out on my own free time. You may say “Okay…so what?”
Well, while I love posting photos from the professional sessions I’ve had, I’d like to post and photograph every day life. I’m a photographer for goodness sakes, so I should probably photograph my own every day life, not just birthdays and family events. There’s so much more to capture. So I’ve decided that something has to change. The more I keep my camera put away nicely in its dust-free, multi-padded case, the less I’m going take it out to photograph the things of every day life. So my camera is coming uncased. #Uncased to be exact. I’m going to go ahead and try this for the month of August. I’m challenging myself leave my camera out of its case and take it with me when I go out. And *gulp* I have a missions trip I’m going on this week! But I will NOT panic! I won’t. Even though we’ll be around water…and dirt. Haha, this will be a fun adventure and hopefully make lots good memories. Keep an eye on all this #Uncased ‘adventureness’ through my Instagram (@bethvphoto) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/bethvphoto)! (Hopefully this will also help with this phobia I seem to have of posting things on social media…sorry to all my FB friends who were so excited that I finally got one and then I didn’t post anything :). #Uncased here I come!
